Do you have a passion for working with tools and machinery?
Do you want a promising career with a great company?
We have some different options for you to start your career as a Truck & Transport Mechanic, a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic or a Parts Counterperson:
Traditional Mechanic Apprenticeships
For both Truck & Transport Mechanics & Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics.
At Inland, we offer the traditional apprenticeship route for mechanics. You would first take the Heavy Mechanical Foundation course through your nearest college or technical school, then apply for a job at Inland. You would return to school once per year in each of 4 years. If you have some practical experience as a heavy duty truck or equipment mechanic already, it may be possible for you to start your apprenticeship without the Foundation course. In this case, you would have to be evaluated by one of our service managers before being offered an apprenticeship.
Parts Counterperson Apprenticeships
If mechanics is not your thing but you do have an interest in heavy trucks and equipment, perhaps a parts apprenticeship is for you. You would start as a Parts Delivery Driver, move into the warehouse as a Shipper/Receiver and then eventually move up to be a Parts Counterperson. If you’d like to gain some knowledge first, you could take the Foundations Parts & Warehousing program at Kwantlen College but this isn’t mandatory. If you feel you have some knowledge of truck & equipment parts already, and have a clean driver’s abstract, you can apply directly to Inland for a job as a Parts Driver. You will return to school once per year in each of 3 years in order to get your ITA Certificate of Qualification.
For traditional mechanic or parts apprenticeships, keep an eye on our job postings for openings or just send your resume, cover letter and driver’s abstract to careers@inland-group.com, stating which of our locations you are interested in.
